Opening new windows in browsers, also called popups, are usually blocked by default and you will have to activate it manually.


With Google Chrome

Turn pop-ups on or off

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More PlusMore puisand then Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  4. Under 'Privacy and security', click Site settings.
  5. Click Pop-ups and redirects.
  6. At the top, turn the setting to Allowed or Blocked.

Block or allow pop-ups from a specific site

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a page where pop-ups are blocked.
  3. In the address bar, click Pop-up blocked Fenêtre pop-up bloquée.
  4. Click the link for the pop-up that you want to see.
  5. To always see pop-ups for the site, select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site] and thenpuisDone

With Firefox

When a popup windows is blocked, Firefox display a information bar (if it hasn't been previously deactivated - see below), as well as an iconpop-up-icon-win in the address bar

When you click either the  Options button in the info bar or the icon in the address bar, a menu is displayed with the following choices:


  • Allow/Block pop-ups for this site
  • Edit Pop-up Blocker Options…
  • Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked
  • (show the blocked pop-up)


With Internet Explorer

To turn Pop-up Blocker on or off

  1. Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools button, and then select Internet options.
  2. On the Privacy tab, under Pop-up Blocker, select or clear the Turn on Pop-up Blocker check box, and then select OK.

With Edge

To disable the pop-up blocker in Microsoft Edge::

  1. Open Microsoft Edge. 

  2. Click the More button in the top right.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Privacy & Security on the left.

  5. Under Security, click the Block pop-ups toggle to turn it to Off.

With Safari

Block/Unblock Safari Pop-ups in Mac OS :

  1. Go to the browser menu and select Safari.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. In the Websites dialog box, click Websites, then, in the left pane, select Pop-up Windows.
  4. Make your selection for the current website. Choose to either block pop-ups and notify you when it happens (Block and Notify), block without notifying you (Block) or allow pop-ups (Allow).
  5. To do the same when visiting other websites, select When visiting other websites in the lower-right corner of the window. If this check box is selected, Safari's integrated pop-up blocker is enabled.
  6. On earlier macOS versions, select Windows > Preferences, then select the Block pop-up windows check box.

Avec Opera
